In The Shedding, the heroine releases the messages that once defined her. The coat she removes is covered in fragments of script—symbols of the expectations and beliefs she once carried about who she had to be. As it falls away, those stories begin to loosen their hold. This painting honors the moment we realize the identities we inherited are not the ones we must continue living.
